Law School Alphabet Soup

LSAC, LSACD, LSDAS, LSAT -- confused yet? Here's a quick glossary.

LSAC = Law School Admission Council. These are the people responsible for administering the LSAT and many other functions associated with law school applications.

LSACD = This one doesn't actually stand for anything. It's the software product that LSAC sells to make it easier to fill out your law school applications and to submit them electronically.

LSDAS = Law School Data Assembly Service. This is another one of the services that LSAC provides and it is a mandatory part of the law school application process. You send your transcripts and letters of recommendation (for most schools) to LSDAS and they then forward the information and letters to the schools you designate. You must sign up for LSDAS.

LSAT = Law School Admission Test. That big test you have to take in order to gain admission to law school. Take heart, though -- it's really nothing compared to the bar exam.
