Undergrad publishing opportunity

This is from the UCLA Pre-Law Society. It looks like a great opportunity:

Greetings! I’m writing you on behalf of the Pre-Law Society at UCLA to inform you about an exciting opportunity for students with an interest in the legal field, and legal writing more specifically.

For several years now the Pre-Law Society at UCLA (formerly known as the UCLA Pre-Law Society) has been publishing the UCLA Undergraduate Law Journal. Styled after the major law reviews found at most—if not all—ABA-approved law schools, the journal allows undergraduates and recent graduates a chance to explore their interests in the law, policy, philosophy, ethics, and politics at-length in a medium that will prepare them for legal writing and the study of law in the future.

In the past, the journal has not been open to outside submission, but, as I took office this year as the Publications Director at the Pre-Law Society and as the managing editor of the journal, I decided to change that. In the interest of opening up the journal to a greater diversity of perspectives on the law we will be accepting applications/article proposals from students from across the country this year. We would love it if students considered applying to write this year.

The benefits to students in writing for the journal are manifold. Firstly, students gain valuable experience with the kind of writing that they will be required to do in law school—whether or not they intend on being on the staff of a law review. Additionally, as the journal is distributed to ALL of the top 50 (US News) law schools and to all (45+) law schools attending the UCLA Pre Law forum, writing in the journal is a great way for students to demonstrate to admissions officers at schools their potential for success in the study of the law. Finally, whether or not students decide to pursue a career in the law, being published is a wonderful addition to any resume, be it law school or graduate school.

If you have questions about the journal, the Pre-Law Society at UCLA, or article topics please feel free to contact Philippe Lebel, at undergradlawjournal@gmail.com.Or you can email amgolight@ucla.edu, associate editor of the journal.

Best,
Staff Member, UCLA Undergraduate Law Journal
