Here's a suggested time line for Fall 2007 applications, along with links to helpful resources.
January - March 2006
- Begin thinking about LSAT:
- ->June or September test?
- -> Prep course or no?
- Meet with Pre-Law Advisor
- Register for June LSAT and LSDAS
- Prepare for June LSAT
- Identify your ideal recommenders
- Talk with recommenders
- Start researching law schools
- Deadline for registering for June LSAT
- Take the LSAT
- Prepare for September LSAT (if you did not take June)
- Visit law school websites, become familiar with schools
- Deadline for registering for late September LSAT
- Have official transcript sent to LSDAS
- Visit law schools, if possible
- Verify accuracy of LSDAS information
- Take the LSAT (if you did not take it in June)
October 25, 2006
- UMass professional school fair - meet with law school reps
- Make final decisions about which schools to apply to
- Draft personal statements
- Complete applications online
- Check in with recommenders
- Request Dean's certification letters
- Submit all applications
- Check with Admissions offices that files are complete
- File FAFSA and financial aid applications
- Notifications arrive from law schools
- Pay seat deposit
