Timeline for law school applications: Fall 2006 admission
Recommended timeline for those of you thinking of applying to law school for Fall 2006 admission.
January - March 2005
- Begin thinking about LSAT:
* June or October test?
* Prep course or no? - Meet with Pre-Law Advisor
- Register for June LSAT and LSDAS
- Prepare for June LSAT
- Identify your ideal recommenders Talk to recommenders
- Start researching law schools
- Deadline for registering for June LSAT
- Take the LSAT
- Prepare for October LSAT (if you did not take June)
- Visit law school websites, request catalogs, applications
- Deadline for registering for October LSAT
- Have official transcript sent to LSDAS
- Visit law schools, if possible
- Verify accuracy of LSDAS information
- Request recommendations, give forms to recommenders
- Take the LSAT (if you did not take it in June)
- UMass professional school fair - meet with law school reps
- Make final decisions about which schools to apply to
- Draft personal statements
- Complete applications
- Check in with recommenders
- Request Dean's certification letters
- Mail in all applications
- Check with Admissions offices that files are complete
- File FAFSA and financial aid applications
- Notifications arrive from law schools
- Pay seat deposit
