Pre-Law Student Association

Several students have asked about forming a Pre-Law Society or other kind of law-focused student association. Many colleges have such groups, but UMass Amherst has not had one for many years. There are any number of activities such a group could engage in, including
  • arranging speakers and other law-related events
  • forming study groups for the LSAT (or other LSAT-prep activities)
  • organizing periodic discussions of law-related topics
  • organizing moot court competitions
  • compiling and maintaining a list of law-related classes offered at UMass
  • taking field trips to local law schools
This is not an exhaustive list – there may be other activities that you might be interested in. That’s the best part about forming an new student organization: you get to help decide what the group will actually do.

If you would be interested in helping form a student pre-law association, please send an email to Tess Varney at tvarney(at)student.umass.edu (please put “pre-law student association” in the subject line). Tess will be in touch with interested students to take the next steps.
