Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights -- Election Protection Campaign

An important opportunity for law-related volunteering:
The Lawyers’ Committee is working with MassVOTE, ¿Oiste?, ACLU-Massachusetts, Boston Branch NAACP, Black Political Task Force, DunktheVote, GBLS Asian Outreach Unit, Chinese Progressive Association and other nonprofit organizations involved in voter registration, voter education and get out the vote efforts to implement the Election Protection Project in Massachusetts – a working partnership with community groups, and local, state and national organizations (including national the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund), to ensure that every registered voter who wants to vote will be able to do so, and to stop voter harassment, misinformation and other tactics at the polling places intended to deter or prevent people, particularly in communities of color, from voting on Election Day.

The Lawyers’ Committee seeks attorneys, students, and community volunteers to participate in various aspects of this multifaceted strategy to prevent voter disenfranchisement from being repeated in the November 2004 election. As this is a broad project, we need persons with varying abilities to make time commitments. Click here for more information.
