Lawyer-Alumni Network

Through an alumni survey over the summer, we have been able to establish a network of about 100 alumni (and growing!) who are lawyers and who are happy to connect with UMass Amherst students interested in legal careers. There is an incredible diversity among the alumni: they represent over 35 different practice areas, live in 25 different states, attended 40 different law schools, majored in at least 20 different subjects, and their UMass degrees date from 1957 though 1998. These folks are really eager to give back to UMass by making themselves available for informational interviews or contacts with current UMass students and recent alumni. A smaller number have indicated an interest in setting up internships for UMass students and recent grads.

If you are interested in talking or emailing with a lawyer-alum, please contact me and indicate your specific areas of interest (i.e., a lawyer in corporate practice, someone who went to Georgetown Law, an attorney in the Midwest), and I will match you to one of our alums, and give you his/her contact info.

If you are interested in an internship, the process is a little more complicated. Again, email me with your interests – paid vs. unpaid, term-time vs. summer, specific practice area or geographic location – and I’ll see what we can set up.
